Leather Dressing

West London, 2014

This dressing area forms a key access route between sleeping and bathing areas for a new master loft suite. The Workshop was commissioned to design and construct an entire new build roof and renovate other areas of the house. The leather dressing room has under floor heating below the leather to warm the feet. The leather door panels were set out by the size and butt of the cow hides, which then informed the setting out of walls and structure. The extended leather threshold acts as a transition between public and private domain of the dwelling. A 180 degree mirrored lockable door was installed at the end of the tunnel for dressing and privacy.

This finished project was published and featured on Dezeen in 2014

No handles for the leather sliding door were purposefully specified so that the wearing of the leather could be celebrated through time with the daily touching of the hand
